Pool Fence Code

In the state of Florida, pool fences are required before a final pool inspection can be approved. We get multiple frantic phone calls a week from homeowners asking the question, "What do I need?" My pool contractor said "You need to handle the fence." Does this sound like you? If so keep reading and I'll walk your the steps.

Start by calling a local fence professional fence contractor in your area. Request that they visit your build site to ensure they have all of the correct field measurements prior to signing a contract.

Below a list of required heights and description for various fence option.

Aluminum fence

  1. 48" high two-rail aluminum fence
  2. 54" high three-rail aluminum fence

Wood fence

  1. 48" high minimum privacy fence
  2. 48" high minimum picket fence

Vinyl privacy fence

  1. 48" high minimum privacy fence
  2. 48" high minimum picket fence

Chain link fence

  1. 48" high minimum 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" mesh

All Walk gates

  1. Latch needs to be located at 54"high minimum
  2. Hinges must be self closing
  3. Gate must open outwards
  4. 24" safety latch or 36" saftey latch (Magna Latch)
